

Kenneth Ray Boren, age 86, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Banner Boswell Medical Center in Sun City Arizona. He was born September 17, 1934 in Shawnee Oklahoma to Harold and Hazel Boren. Ken was a hard working young man going to school while working to help support his family. He married his High School sweetheart Mary Blakely on May 29, 1952, in Roseville CA. They dedicated 66 years to each other until Mary’s passing in 2018. They raised 4 children together, Pamela, Kristi, Linda, and Scott. Ken could turn his hand to just about anything and had many jobs as a young man. He spent a large portion of his career in the restaurant business managing and directing such chains as Sambo’s, I.H.O.P., Carl’s Jr., and the Greyhound Post House. He was also a savvy businessman starting several businesses of his own and was a licensed auto dealer and real estate agent. Ken also proudly served his country as a rifleman and communications specialist in the United States Army. He was stationed in Korea in 1957 and honorably discharged in 1958. He was also widely known as a man of faith serving God, his church, and his fellow man to the best of his ability as a mentor and example to many family and friends. In his spare time he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, camping, and spending time with his family. In 2020 Ken met Kay Roberts and after a brief courtship they were married on June 10, 2021.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Ken on Saturday, September 11, 10:00am at The Valley Cathedral Church, 4002 W. Union Hills Dr. Glendale AZ 85308. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Valley Cathedral Church, in the memo write: “For the Philippines, in honor of Ken Boren.”
