Kenneth Roy Hollenbeck, Jr, 72, sadly passed away on September 30th 2022. Ken “Papa” will be remembered as a man of service to his family, country, and community. He is preceded in death by his parents Kenneth Hollenbeck and Martha Hollenbeck (Handy), his brother Butch Hollenbeck, and his beloved wife Darleen Hollenbeck (Reed). He is survived by his sister Twila Mandella (Hollenbeck), his daughters Lisa Villa (Hollenbeck) and Tina Rivera (Hollenbeck), his grandchildren, Teresa Perkins (Villa), Isaiah Villa, Sarah Villa, Joshua Villa, Zachariah Corona, and Aleena Herrera, and his great grandson Jonathan Perkins.
Ken served his country in the United States Airforce, serving in the Vietnam and later retiring as a Master Sergeant after 21 years. He served his community in the Boy Scouts from his days as a youth to retirement. He achieved the rank of Life scout as a youth, served as a Scoutmaster for two different Boy Scout troops and in retirement as a District Commissioner in Cub Scout packs and Troops for the Grand Canyon Council. In addition, he served as a Trustee of VFW Post #2135. Most importantly he served his family. His dear Angel and wife Darleen was everything to him. They shared 37 years of marriage. As a father he was always there for us growing up and involved as an active volunteer in the many activities we were in. As a grandpa or Papa as the children loved to call him, he was always ready to get out there to play and made sure he was there to share in those special moments. He also took the opportunity to meet his great grandson, flying to Savanah GA to meet him when he was just a few months old.
He spent his life serving others. But most importantly he was a husband, a father, Papa and grandpa. We will always remember the good times we were blessed to share with him. The family invites everyone to join us in a celebration of life as we lay Ken to rest, alongside his angel, Darleen, on October 28, 2022, at 12:00 PM. The interment is to be held at West Resthaven Cemetery 6450 West Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to an Animal Rescue in honor of Kenneth Roy Hollenbeck, Jr.
