Kenneth Kenn D. Oates

Kenneth Oates (Kenn) 80, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by his sons on February 8, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Leitha Ellen Oates (Cross), his sons, Dave, Jeff and Ken, daughter-in-law Sue, granddaughters Linda King, Christy Mitchell, Shea Santos and 8 great grandchildren. Kenn was born and raised in Michigan. He was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University inYpsilanti, Michigan. His love for teaching and children was evidenced by his 40 year career in education as a teacher, coach and principal. He moved to Arizona when he retired. He was an avid fan of all sports, but his passion was baseball. He was a proud Veteran of the Korean War serving as radio operator and earning the bronze star. He will be missed by all who love him. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation in his name to Hospice of the Valley, 1501 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014. Service will be held at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E.
