Kim was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, friend and loved by members of the Unity Church, Southwest Stampers, and her ValleyWise Hospital coworkers.
Kim was born and raised in NJ where she graduated Westwood High School in 1982. After graduating from high school, she attended Holy Name School of Nursing pursuing a degree as a Registered Nurse. She obtained her Chiropractic license from Sherman College in Greensboro, SC in 2002. She continued in her nursing career and traveled to New York, Maryland, and Iowa as a visiting nurse and stumbled upon Phoenix, AZ.
Kim knew Phoenix was her home and moved here in the early 2000's permanently and called this new home. She quickly acclimated to the desert environment and loved every aspect of the state except for cacti, she didn't like the spiny, sharp variety.
Kim settled into her nursing career as a psychiatric nurse on the night shift with Valleywise Hospital Network as an Advanced Clinical Nurse. She balanced her life with the Unity of Phoenix Spiritual Center and became a Chaplain. Kim welcomed this opportunity at Unity and forged long- lasting relationships. She was a member of the Unity Singles Group and hosted an annual New Year's Eve Party for a few years for the group.
Kim was an avid crafter with Southwest Stampers, and created cards for family, and gifted the cards to Hospice organizations, her patients and anyone who needed a positive message.
Kim was preceded in death by her parents, Charles R. Otis, Jr. and June Otis (nee Kempf), and her brother Richard C. Otis. Kim's surviving family members are her Aunt Edythe Otis (97), her sister, Susan and her husband Bob Ernst of Oak Ridge, NJ, her brother, Fred Otis and Diane Fitzgibbon of Wilkes Barre, PA, nieces Marlena and her husband, Frank Taglieri, Emma and Cecelia Otis, 3 grand nephews, 3 grand nieces, and 2 cousins.
Services in Phoenix will be held on May 3rd at Unity of Phoenix Spiritual Center at 1500 E Greenway Parkway, Phoenix at 10 am. A reception will follow with light refreshments at 11am in the courtyard. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Unity Spiritual Center or Hospice of the Valley. For her East coast family and friends, a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
