Dawson, Laura Beth (Pierce), 53, passed away suddenly in her Phoenix home on September 24, 2016. Beloved daughter of the late Clyle and Marlene (Strickland) Dawson, Laura was born April 1, 1963 in Phoenix, Arizona. The youngest of five siblings, she was the first and only girl. Despite (or due to) being surrounded by brothers, she grew up with a nurturing and kind spirit and followed in her grandmother’s and mother’s footsteps by dedicating much of her life to caring for others as an ICU nurse at the VA Hospital. She received her BS in nursing from Grand Canyon University and was a Critical Care Registered Nurse. She loved to spend time with her family, friends, and her much loved (and giant) rescue dog Koda. Laura is survived by her dear children Lindsay, Matthew, and Joshua; her loving brothers Greg (Judy) and Scott (Christina); her nephews and nieces Michael (Rachel), Jennifer, Nicholas, Zachary, and Rebecca, and four great-nieces and nephews and one brand new great-great-niece. Laura is preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, and her brothers Lee and Michael. Our loved sister, mother, aunt, and friend will be missed deeply by all who loved and knew her. Services will be held on Sunday, October 2 at 10 am for the viewing, with the funeral to follow at 12 pm at Greer Wilson Chapel, 5921 W. Thomas Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85033. Contributions in her memory may be made to The American Nurses Foundation (www.anfonline.org/Main/ HonoraNurse) or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
