

Lee was born at Hôtel-Dieu in New Orleans on Oct. 31, 1942, and graduated high school in 1960 from St. Gregory’s College in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a reservist from 1963 to 1969 and graduated with an economics degree from Tulane University in 1984.
Lee served as a draftsman, road designer and in other positions during his six years of working for the city of New Orleans. He then worked as a traffic engineer for Jefferson Parish from 1970 until his retirement in 2004.
He was active in the Marine Corps League (Paul E. Boyd Detachment #579), including a stint as commandant from 2004 through 2006. He also was a member of the Military Order of Devil Dogs Pound 172.
And he was a longtime Scottish Rite Mason (Union Lodge #172 Free and Accepted Masons), serving as district deputy grand master and twice as worshipful master.
Lee and his wife Janet moved to Arizona in 2008 to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Lee passed away peacefully at his home in Phoenix surrounded by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, F. Driscoll Daspit and Muriel Norton Daspit, and his younger brother, Donald Daspit.
Lee is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janet Labiche Daspit of Phoenix; his daughters, Jacqueline Marie Daspit and Georgia Lee Daspit, both of Phoenix; his granddaughters, Marie Aurelie Elizabeth McCrory, Lillian Nealie McCrory and Dagny Josephine Emmaline McCrory, all three of Phoenix; his sisters Dianne Daspit Kreeger of Baton Rouge and Lisette Daspit Beck of St. Petersburg, Florida; and his son-in-law, Jacques Billeaud of Phoenix.
