

72 years old. Born December 4, 1938, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. Died October 24, 2011, Phoenix, Arizona. Leo George Hynes a long time resident of Phoenix, Arizona after moving from Peterborough, Ontario, Canada with his family passed away Monday morning after a two year battle with Alzheimer and related health issues was surrounded by his loving family at home. His niece, Janet Laird an RN from Colorado Springs, provided bedside care during his last two weeks. Leo spent 32 years on the Phoenix Police Department and retired with the rank of sergeant. He was always known for his greeting smile while working at the front desk at police headquarters and known to be and institution to the department. He was always very active whether it was running or hiking with his family and friends and always enjoyed traveling all throughout Arizona. Leo is survived by his wife, Barbara, his son Jeff and wife Tammy, his Daughter Julie and husband Rick, and his son James and wife Karen. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was a great man and will be missed dearly. Visitation: Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E. Greenway Road, Phoenix 5:00pm - 8:00pm. Services: Thursday, October 27, 2011 St. Jerome Catholic Church 10815 N. 35th Avenue, Phoenix 10:30 am. Graveside service following church services at Phoenix Memorial Park, 200 West Beardsley Road.
