Leona Agnes King, age 90, of Phoenix, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Palm House Assisted Living in Phoenix, Arizona. She was born in Lucinda, Pennsylvania on February 9, 1929 to the late Augustine Andrew and Dora P. Ginkel Hoover in Lucinda, Pennsylvania. She attended Farmington High School, graduating class of 1947. She married Robert John King on December 1st, 1951.
After graduating, Leona was employed at Talon Zipper, Meadville and Owens-Illinois Glass, Ohio. She was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Phoenix, Arizona and she lovingly cared for her family as a wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking, music, flowers (especially roses) and hummingbirds, and had a beautiful smile.
Leona is survived by her loving spouse of 68 years, Robert John King, daughter Dori King and her husband Jesse Munch of Phoenix, Arizona, granddaughter Marliena Ellis, great grandson Nathan McGovern and many other loving family and friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter Jacqueline Ann King, her 4 brothers: Edward, John, William and Paul Hoover and 5 sisters: Agnes Hoover, Florence Kaltenbach, Edith Strickenberger, Dorothy Felmet and Alice Brown.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a Rosary at 10am (optional) and Mass/service will be held at 10:30am on Friday, August 9th, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, at 3810 E. Greenway Road, Phoenix, AZ 85032.
Interment will follow at 12:30pm, at the National Memorial Cemetery, 23029 Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
