

Lola Mae Drake age 96 passed away on June 6, 2026 with her family by her side. She was born on July 22, 1929 in Garden City, Kansas. Lola was the first of 12 children. Her parents were Roscoe and Nora Atwater. Lola married Alvin (Lucky) Drake and together raised two children. Lucky passed away in 1980 and Lola never remarried. Over the years and with much joy, she saw the family grow to include six grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Grandchildren were the love of her life. They all gravitated to her and gave her joy and purpose. Over the years Lola lived in Colorado, New Mexico, Scottsdale and Phoenix AZ. She started working at age 14 as a dish washer, waitress and then as a kitchen manager. Lola was a kitchen manager at Pinnacle Peak Patio Steakhouse in Scottsdale for 50 years. She was 80 when she retired. Lola loved cross stitching, putting puzzles together and playing the game 10-10 on her ipad. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
Lola is survived by her son Glen Swatz (Fran), daughter Donna (Jim) Martens; her brothers Larry (Patty) Atwater and Dennis Atwater of New Mexico and many nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held for Lola at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary on Friday, June 19, 2026 at 9:00 am. A funeral service will follow at 10:00am with a graveside service at Phoenix Memorial Park at 11:00 am. Anyone attending is encouraged to bring and share their special memories.
