Lonnie Louise Novak

Lonnie Novak was born in Chicago, Ill. in 1946. Using her analytical, practical and detail-oriented skills, Lonnie became a talented bookkeeper and office manager. In the final years of her career, Lonnie worked at American Express, working her way up from customer service agent to underwriter before retiring.

Even before retiring Lonnie began shifting to the AZ retirement life style. She moved to Boulder Ridge Mobile Home Park, where she quickly joined in the fun. Over the years she served on the board several times and also ran the social committee planning parties and booking entertainment for events.

Lonnie’s real joy was her family. Her daughters grew into strong, independent and capable women through her gentle guidance and constant support. Lonnie was a Girl Scout leader, a volleyball coach, a basketball score keeper, a costume maker, an editor of essays and an ironer of uniforms. She drove the girls to practice and cheered in the stands.

Lonnie is survived by her daughter Katie Klod of Greensboro, NC, daughter Carrie Bennett and granddaughter Abby Bennett of Gilbert, AZ. She also leaves behind many treasured family members: the Novak and Peterson families in Illinois, the Clark family in Phoenix, and nieces, nephews and cousins scattered around the country. She was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and LaVergne Novak and her brother Lenny Novak.
