Lorraine was born on October 16, 1929, to LeRoy and Carrie Cross, on the family farm near Johnson, Kansas. She grew up in a close-knit farming family, with her parents and four sisters. Her family moved from Kansas to Tempe, when she was 15 years old. After graduating from Tempe High School in 1947, Lorraine attended Arizona State University, receiving her education degree. She was an excellent teacher for 30+ years.
In August 1955, Lorraine married Hal Wearne, and they enjoyed 63 happy years of marriage. The love between Lorraine & Hal grew into the loving bond that their family continues to share.
Lorraine was a faithful member of the Tempe First United Methodist Church for 80 years.
Lorraine enjoyed reading, sewing, water aerobics, traveling, square dancing, playing games, picnics and watching Phoenix Suns basketball games. Above all, she treasured time spent with family... She dearly loved her family.
Lorraine truly loved life and she found beauty in every day. All those who knew her, experienced her kindness, gentle spirit and zest for life.
