

Lucille Marie Grooms of Anthem, AZ passed away on Monday, July 22nd 2024 at the age of 86. Lucy was born on July 4th, 1938 as the daughter of Frank Spiga and Christina Mucci. Since the year 2005, Lucy called Arizona her home. Lucy was married to and adored by her husband Dennis Grooms for 42 years. She spent most of her adult life embodying motherhood, working as a full-time nanny while raising her own children. Lucy will be missed by her family and friends.
Lucy was actively involved in her community, as she enjoyed volunteering for St. Rose Catholic church, as well as Youth for Troops and the Daisy Mountain Veterans. As a Golden Go-Getter, she explored the world with a curious mind and energetic spirit. She loved to travel with her family and friends, collecting memories on long drives across the United States and cruising around the globe. In addition to her travel, her hobbies included cross-stitching, completing puzzles, attending her grandkids’ sporting events, and enjoying a good movie.
Lucy connected with many and left an everlasting impression on all; her kindness echoed joy into other’s lives and her heart was always full of hope. She will be remembered for her relaxed nature, her mischievous Italian humor, her whimsical style, and her devotion to God. She loved being a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a friend.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dennis Grooms, sister Mary Conklin, brothers Tony and Joe Spiga, and brother-in-law Orville McMahan. She is survived by her sister Josie McMahan, brother Frank Spiga, daughters Susan Haagen (John) and Kathryn Matthews, son William Grooms (Christina), and grandchildren Amanda Chase, Paige, Jordan, and Austin Haagen, and Dominic, Anthony, and Isabella Grooms.
