Luis B. Lopez, born September 3, 1927, in Phoenix to Damasio and Rita Lopez, was welcomed peacefully into eternal life by God, our heavenly Father, on October 9, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Jesus, Manuel, Cruz, Pete and Mary Lopez and Rose Cooks. Luis was a virtuous and generous man who always helped people and will always be remembered for being kind-hearted, having a great sense of humor and a beautiful smile among many other positive attributes.
He attended Phoenix Union High School and served our country as a medic in active duty during the Korean War in the U.S. Army from 1951 –1953 and continued service in the Army Reserve from 1953 – 1959. He was a devoted brother and uncle and a hard-working man who began working at age 13 for the Phoenix established Walsh Bros. company when it was typewriter repair shop. His career spanned many decades and he worked for a number of companies, including Hanny’s Department Store, JC Penney and the U.S. Postal Service, where he retired in 1990.
He will forever be in the hearts of those who survive and love him dearly including his siblings Lupe and Carlos Lopez, numerous nieces and nephews and his Lynwood family.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Rosary at 7:00 pm at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuary, 710, W. Bethany Home Road, Phoenix. Funeral mass will be on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 10:00 AM, at St. Gregory Catholic Church, 3424 N. 18th Ave, Phoenix. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th St., Phoenix.
