Lupe Laliech Pineda
September 21, 1927 – February 5, 2020
In 1948, Lupe married the late Raul Pineda, with whom she had six children and shared many fond memories. She took great pride in having settled herself amidst such loving company.
Among her joys were caring for her family and making enormous tortillas, which she always shared. When she wasn’t making tortillas, one could find her sitting in her recliner watching telenovelas, or sitting outside in her rocking chair watching the dogs play and listening to the birds sing. When she had her fill of that, she could be found inside scratching her lottery tickets. It didn’t matter if she won or not, she simply enjoyed playing the game. The smallest pleasures always gave her the greatest return. Lupe was a happy woman and would often indulge in harmless mischief if it meant she got to see others laugh. Her favorite targets were her children, who somehow were always unsuspecting but nonetheless willing to play along. She was known to surprise her dear ones with small gifts, and strangers were granted the finest hospitality she could offer. Without exception, no one would ever leave her house unfed or unloved. She had a way of always making people feel welcomed and appreciated, even if all she had to offer was a cup of coffee and a bean burrito. One was always sure to leave satisfied, with a smile on their face and in their tummy. Survived by her children: Alice Sermeno, Helen Garcia, Danny Pineda, Arthur Pineda, and Anne Pineda-Moore Grandchildren: Cathie Sermeno; Albert Sermeno, Jr.; Valerie Alafa; Raulito Alafa; Kimberly Sintas; Deanna Acuna; Kristina Chrisman; Kristine Garcia; Michelle Pineda; Dominic Garcia; Marissa Pineda-Moore; and Alyssa Pineda-Moore Great Grandchildren: Elisa Aros; Augustine Garcia; Lorenzo Alafa; Raul Alafa, Jr.; Victoria Alafa; Sarah Slatter; Noah Schwartz; Briley Schwartz; Karlos Garcia; Mason Acuna; and Sienna Acuna Great-great Grandchildren: Mila Aros
