Mae Frances Walters of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024. Born on January 1, 1942, in Bethany, LA, Mae Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Walters, Jr., and her parents, Bannister and Willie Mae Willis.
Mae Frances dedicated over 40 years to Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, where she found solace in her faith. She attended Crenshaw High School and later moved to Phoenix. She worked at Motorola before devoting herself to raising her granddaughter, Desiree Nealy, whom she adored. Mae Frances was known for her gentle spirit, unwavering kindness, and infectious laughter.
She was a fashion enthusiast, avid shopper, and enjoyed watching Family Feud and soap operas daily. Mae Frances cherished family gatherings and delighted in baking her famous sweet potato pies each Christmas.
She is survived by her daughters, Earlene Nealy and Sandra Walters (son-in-law Paul Ellis), her grandchildren, Desiree Nealy, Charles Nealy, Jr, Christopher Nealy, Timothy Nealy, Gregory Cogswell, Jr, and Porsha Mae Cogswell, host of great-grandchildren, sisters Tonia Robinson, Sylvia “Tina” Washington, brothers Clint Harrington, Robert Seaton, and Sonny Moore, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Mae Frances will be deeply missed, but her love and laughter will forever echo in our hearts.
