Margarita Ritchie, 77, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on August 18, 2014. Margarita was born in Quevedo, Ecuador and grew up in Guayaquil. She moved to the United States in the 1970s where she lived in Louisiana, New York and Minnesota. In 1975, she married her husband David. Two years later, they welcomed their only daughter, Kathy. Margarita was a devoted mother and wife. She worked as a Spanish teacher and selflessly dedicated herself to her church and community. She loved animals, especially cats — Margarita was always rescuing stray cats and giving them a home (much to the delight of her daughter). Margarita will be remembered for her kind heart, love of life and perseverance, even in the most difficult of times. She is survived by her husband, David, daughter Kathy (Jon Robinson), and granddaughter Violet. She is also survived by her family in Ecuador, including one sister and two brothers, and her family in Minnesota. Donations can be made in her honor to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration and/or the Alzheimer’s Association.
