Margie Rey Suero was born on March 16, 1977 in El Paso, Texas. Margie transitioned on July 5, 2022 in Phoenix, Arizona. She is remembered by her proud parents Mary Lou and Jose, her husband of 16 years, Jose Suero, her brother Carlos Jr., nephew, Carlos III, her two amazing children, Marissa and Antonio and step-daughters, Brittany and Aubrey. Family was the center of her world and what kept her grounded.
Serving as an educator was one of many gifts she shared with the world. In 2000, Margie arrived in Phoenix as a Teach for America teacher at Joseph Zito Elementary School. Her dedication as an educator was profound and impactful for her students, colleagues and community. Her career spanned over twenty years where she served the Pendergast School District as a Teacher Mentor, Assistant Principal at Desert Mirage Elementary and as Assistant Principal at Sunset Ridge Elementary. She modeled by example, always a learner herself.
Margie, wonderful and dedicated wife and mother, lived a life that was filled with joy, laughter, brightness and love, lots and lots of love. Her willingness to explore and experience life, especially with her children and husband, filled her days. Some of her favorite activities included concerts, camping, or simply reading a bedtime book or singing a song to her children as they dozed off to sleep. Trips to SeaWorld, museums, the zoo etc. often included both of her parents. Outings were truly a family affair. The memories created often documented by the photos or photo books created by Margie will be cherished for years to come.
Margie’s family also included her friends. Her commitment to friendships was bar none with friendships spanning four decades. Whether it was a friend she made through other friends, in elementary school or friends she made a few weeks ago via work, through the Girl/Boy Scouts, friends & family outings. Margie’s ability to listen without judgment, empathy and genuine care, made her many friends feel so fortunate to have her in their lives.
She will always be remembered for her enthusiasm and zest for life, her amazing laugh, her dedication to her family and friends, her contributions to K-12 education, and her strong faith in God.
Services for Margie will be held on Thursday, July 14th and Friday, July 15th, 2022. On Thursday, July 14th her friends and family are invited for the Rosary from 5:00-6:00 PM and a viewing from 6:00-8:00 PM at Shadow Mountain Mortuary. On Friday, July 15 mass will be held at Saint Jerome Catholic Church at 10:30AM. Her husband served in the U.S. Air Force and her burial will be at the Veterans National Cemetery at 12:30PM.
