Maria "Emilia" Miranda Fierro

Maria Emilia Miranda Fierro, a loving mother of three (plus a bonus daughter) and an adoring grandmother of eight, passed away on January 10, 2026, at the age of 78. Emilia was diagnosed with her illness in November 2024, and like a true warrior, she fought bravely for one year and two months. Her courage and determination will forever stand as a source of strength, inspiring others to keep going, even in the hardest moments. Emilia was born on September 21, 1947, in El Porvenir, Sinaloa, and though born there, her roots were firmly planted in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, where she was raised.

Emilia was the second oldest of ten siblings and carried that sense of responsibility and care throughout her life. In 1994, she brought her family to Phoenix, Arizona, to be closer to relatives already living in the United States.

A devoted grandmother, Emilia cherished her eight grandchildren—Nobel, Josel, Johan, Erick, Jaslyn, Adria, Luna Emily, and Ariel Jesus. Her love-filled cooking brought comfort to everyone who entered her home, whether they were neighbors, her grandchildren’s friends, or loved ones stopping by for a visit.

Emilia enjoyed sharing a Coca-Cola with Presidente, cigarette in hand, while dancing and laughing with friends at cookouts. Some of her most cherished moments were spent visiting the cemetery to be with her late son, Jesus Alvirena “Chuy.”

She is survived by her children, Erika, Pedro Luis, Vizzy, her 8 grandchildren and was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jesus “Chuy.” Though she leaves family and friends behind, her motherly love will remain in their hearts for the rest of their lives.

Emilia fue diagnosticada con su enfermedad en noviembre de 2024 y, como una verdadera guerrera, luchó con valentía duranteun año y dos meses. Su coraje y determinación permaneceránpara siempre como una fuente de fortaleza, inspirando a otros a seguir adelante, incluso en los momentos más difíciles. Emilia nació el 21 de septiembre de 1947 en El Porvenir, Sinaloa, y aunque nació allí, sus raíces quedaron firmemente establecidasen Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, donde fue criada.

Emilia fue la segunda hermana mayor de diez hermanos y llevóconsigo ese sentido de responsabilidad y cuidado a lo largo de toda su vida. En 1994, llevó a su familia a Phoenix, Arizona, para estar más cerca de familiares que ya vivían en los EstadosUnidos.

Como abuela dedicada, Emilia adoraba a sus ocho nietos: Nobel, Josel, Johan, Erick, Jaslyn, Adria, Luna Emily y Ariel Jesús. Su cocina, llena de amor, brindaba consuelo a todos los queentraban a su hogar, ya fueran vecinos, amigos de sus nietos o seres queridos que pasaban a visitarla.

Emilia disfrutaba compartir una Coca-Cola con Presidente, con el cigarro en la mano, mientras bailaba y reía con amigos en las reuniones familiares. Algunos de sus momentos más preciadoslos pasó visitando el cementerio para estar junto a su hijofallecido, Jesús Alvirena “Chuy”.

Le sobreviven sus hijos, Erika y Pedro Luis, Vizzy, sus 8 nietosy fue precedida en la muerte por su amado hijo, Jesús “Chuy”. Aunque deja atrás a familiares y amigos, su amor de madre permanecerá en sus corazones por el resto de sus vidas.

A visitation will be held at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary, Funeral Home Chapel, located at 719 North 27th Ave, Phoenix, AZ, 85009, on January 24, 2026, starting at 11:00 am.

The funeral service will follow at the same location and room at 1:00 pm.

The committal service will take place at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 2300 W Van Buren St, Phoenix, AZ, 85009, on January 24, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
