Marie Eidenbock, 91, died peacefully on June 12th in Chandler, AZ. Marie was born Nelva Marie Pauly on October 24th 1927 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the second daughter of William and Dorothy Pauly. Marie grew up and resided in Oklahoma City with her sister Helen until she met her future husband Leo Eidenbock at a USO dance while he was stationed at Fort Sill during WWII. After marrying in 1948 they moved to Baltimore, MD, where they raised their four children before moving to the Phoenix area in 1963. She worked as a medical technologist for the Veterans Administration before acquiring her master’s degree in microbiology. At that time, she was promoted to a position with the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. Marie has published numerus research ecology research papers. After she retired in 1984, she pursued her hobbies of sewing and won numerous awards for her water coloring. Marie was an avid hiker, hiking Mount Whitney with her son Rudy at nearly 50yrs of age. She and Leo, with the help of their son’s, built a retirement log cabin in the White Mountains of Arizona in the early 80’s.
Marie is survived by her four children; Theresa Eidenbock, of Monrovia, CA, Carl Eidenbock, with his wife Linda Rossnes of Phoenix, AZ, Rudy and his wife, Silvia Szucs, of Phoenix, AZ and Lucy Eidenbock of Monrovia, CA. as well as, two grandchildren Lindsay (Benson) of Phoenix, AZ and Mathew Eidenbock of Los Angeles, CA, and two great grandchildren Luke and Mathew (Benson) of Phoenix, AZ. She is preceded in death by her husband Leo William Eidenbock who passed away May 30th 1997.
