Born 28 November 1953, died 9 November 2025, age 71.
Mark, fondly known as Mark E Roo, was the youngest of three children of Ed and Carol Rubens, originally of Shrewsbury, New Jersey, and more recently of Sun City West.
Mark played bass guitar during his heavy-metal teen years while attending Red Bank High School in NJ. After graduation, he moved into the printing business. After many years enduring snowy winters and hot, humid summers, Mark followed his parents west and settled in Phoenix — a decision he never regretted.
In his younger and healthier years, Mark traveled widely: Ireland and Scotland; Ukraine; Russia; Hawaii; Colombia; Mexico; and cross-country throughout the United States. He loved riding his motorcycle in the Arizona mountains, whether it was one of his Harley’s or his more recent Yamaha. He enjoyed woodworking projects, refinishing furniture, and fixing up his house. Mark had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for his practical, harmless jokes. He had a soft heart for dogs, especially Sheba, his beloved collie, and, had circumstances been different, he surely would have had another dog.
Mark leaves behind his sister Mary Secord; his sister Shirley Rubens; his nephew James O’Neill; and his friends and neighbors.
