Marta Sue Cross

Mrs. Marta Sue Irwin Cross, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away at a Nursing Home on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the age of 73. Marta who frequently went by "Sue" was born to parents Odessa Juanita Johnson and Herman Lee Irwin on March 23, 1944 in Liberal, KS. She grew up as the youngest of three and attended Liberal High School. Shortly after graduating, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona. There she had a child named Houston "Hucky" Mark Cross Irwin who later passed in 1985 at the age of 21.

Despite her hardships, Sue became a successful and respected Mortgage Loan Underwriter, retiring at the age of 65. She spent her 8 years of retirement enjoying the company of her friends and loved ones, playing poker on Saturdays, watching old western movies, coloring and reading books.

Sue is survived by her Granddaughter, Savannah; her roommate and friend, Kevin; Sue's 2 fur babies; Sue's five nieces and nephews, and their children and spouses. Sue is preceded in death by her son Houston Irwin; her parents, Odessa Johnson and Herman Irwin; and her siblings Ron and Angie Irwin.

Marta was cremated on September 14, 2017. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at a private Clubhouse at 1745 West Stella Ln, Phoenix, Arizona on November 11th, 2017 from 2pm to 5pm and all are welcome.
