Mary Grear passed away in her sleep on March 3, 2023 at Leisure Times Home. She was born January 2, 1947 along with her twin Martha Sue, who died at birth, to Ruth and Herbert L. Rather in Muncie, Indiana. The family moved to Phoenix in 1949. Mary went to Grace Court Grade school and graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1965. Mary had several jobs; she and her first husband franchised two 7-11 stores in the 60’s. She eventually went to work at the post office where she was promoted to a supervisor, then a manager, and she worked there for 34 years until her body just couldn’t do the job any longer; she retired in 2012. In her younger years, Mary loved bowling, and horseback riding. She also loved collecting antiques and made a business out of it.
Mary is survived by her last brother John Rather and 19 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and six brothers and sisters.
By her request she chose to be cremated without a formal service.
