Born January 19, 1935 in Mitchell, Nebraska to Don H.D. and Katie Ellen (Sheldon) Hansen.
She married Richard “Dick” Johnson September 27, 1958 in Mitchell, Nebraska; he preceded her in death on April 14, 1975.
Mary Jane leaves behind her blessings of 2 children Susan (Paul) Edwards of Owensburg, Indiana and Alan (Rhonda) Johnson of Cottonwood, Arizona, and 9 grandchildren - Shawndine (Scott) Henderson, Dawna, Richard, Annabel, and Duncan Edwards of Indiana; Kaleb, Garret, Lanaya, and Joel Johnson of Cottonwood, and 2 great grandsons - Liam and Aedan Henderson of Bedford, Indiana.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Lewis Hansen, sister-in-laws Bobbie Hansen and Mona Bowlin.
Mary Jane loved the Lord Jesus Christ, loved His creation, loved her family and friends;
She attended Journey Church in Cottonwood where she enjoyed greeting people and being involved with small group. She enjoyed hiking, reading and traveling, and was a member of a hiking club and book club. She volunteered at Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce, and for AARP Senior Tax Service during tax time.
She graduated from Mitchell High School in Mitchell, Nebraska in 1953 where she enjoyed drama and was in several theatrical productions. After high school she attended Central Business College in Denver, Colorado in 1954 where she completed the junior secretarial, office machines, and bookkeeping course.
Mary Jane met her husband Dick at Lake Minatare in western Nebraska; they lived in Nebraska, Billings, Montana where both children were born, Casper, Wyoming, Denver, Colorado, Wickenburg and Phoenix, Arizona, and 20 years ago she moved to Cottonwood.
After Dick died in 1975, she went back to college and received her Associate of Arts degree from Glendale Community College in 1979. She then began working as bookstore manager at Paradise Valley High School and then North Canyon High School. She retired from Paradise Valley school system.
In her 84 years, Mary Jane has traveled most of the United States enjoying family, national parks, museums, and historical places, enjoyed 2 cruises, and was blessed to tour Israel.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 10:30 with a reception following at Journey Church, 750 E Mingus Ave., Cottonwood, Arizona.
