Jean, along with her twin Mary Jo (Jody), was born on November 6, 1949, in Des Moines, Iowa to Earl and Janette Miller. She lived a life centered around her family, hard work and creating lasting memories with those she loved most.
Jean's career was marked by leadership, friendships and deep commitment. Through her 38 years at Southwest Gas, she was continually recognized for her excellence with promotions and increased responsibility. She retired from Southwest Gas in January 2012 to begin the final and best chapter of her life.
She married the love of her life, Rocky Mitchell, on November 27, 1985. They resided in Phoenix, Arizona where they built their life together. When they retired, they split their time between Phoenix and Show Low, Arizona. Jean loved to be active and she enjoyed many interests (some might even be called obsessions); fishing, camping, hunting, snow skiing, golfing, cycling and pickleball. Even though growing up she never played competitive sports, she relished competition. Her determination was such that she was instrumental in humbling the neighborhood's resident sports star.
Jean also enjoyed her television programs and movies. She had a remarkable talent for identifying the best parts and skipping the rest. By the time she was finished with the remote, a two-hour movie could be reduced to fifteen minutes of her favorite scenes..
Jean’s legacy will be one of humor, friendship, and endurance. She did all things her way without apology. Above all, Jean was deeply passionate about her family. She treasured time spent creating memories with them. She is and will forever be in our hearts and souls
She is survived by her twin sister Jody Beimer (Bill), sisters; Nancy Miller, Tina Miller, Ann Vaughan (Dan) and Michelle Cutler. Brothers; Mick Miller (Diane), Dan Miller (Karen) and Mark Miller. Thirty nieces and nephews, countless great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Rocky Mitchell, her parents, Earl and Janette Miller, her brother Francis Miller and her sister Madonna Aldridge.
Those who knew Jean will remember her fierce love for her family, her fear of missing out on anything and her loyalty to her friends. She will never be forgotten and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of being called her friend.
Her interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice in her memory.
