Mary C. Perez, born in Metcalf, Arizona, in 1926, passed away peacefully, leaving a legacy of love, warmth, and resilience. Mary’s early years were spent in the mining town of Metcalf before she moved to Clifton, where she married the love of her life, Nicholas Perez, in October 1948. Together, they built a life centered on family and community, first in Clifton and later in Phoenix, where they relocated in 1966.
Mary’s career reflected her compassionate and service-minded spirit. She worked as a dental assistant, with the City of Glendale's Housing Department, as an election poll worker, and finally at a hearing aid office, bringing kindness and a steady hand to every role she undertook. Mary was also an exceptional homemaker, known for her love of cooking and the joy she found in bringing her family together around the table. Her talents extended beyond the kitchen, as she delighted her loved ones with her piano playing and love for dancing.
Mary’s family was her greatest joy. She is survived by her three children, Vivian McCracken (Gary), Daniel Perez (Elaine), and Vicky Garlitz (Bryan), four grandchildren—Chris, Elizabeth, Sarah, and Annie—and one great-grandchild, Oliver, who brought her immense pride and happiness.
Mary’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her laughter, her caring spirit, and the many ways she touched the lives of others. Her family finds comfort in knowing that her legacy of love and kindness will continue to flourish through each generation she leaves behind.
