Melodie B. Feinberg

Melodie B. Feinberg, known to her friends and family as Mel, passed away on August 14, 2023, at age 80. She is survived by her husband Gary H Feinberg, and children Elizabeth Whitney Devaney, nee Wood, (Liza) and Clinton Bruce Wood (Clint).

Mel was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 12, 1942, and grew up in Birmingham, Michigan. Her late parents were Archie and Viola Brown. Mel is survived by her sister Candace Smith, nee Brown, (Candy).

Her brother Bruce predeceased her by many years.

Mel attended Seaholm High School. She was an avid music lover and played clarinet in her school band and enjoyed playing the piano. After High School, she attended Michigan State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1964 and was a proud member and officer of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Mel met her first husband, the late William (Bill) Wood at MSU and they married following graduation and had two children Liza and Clint.

Professionally, Mel was a high school English teacher following her graduation from college and worked in the education food service industry in personnel office management. Thereafter, changing careers, she became a legal admin in Chicago working at Hill, Steadman & Simpson. Mel met her second husband Gary in Chicago in the late 1980's and they moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1990, where they married in Oct 1992. She worked as a legal admin at the Lewis and Roca law firm from 1990 until 2000 and was an executive administration assistant at Tri West Health Care Alliance from 2000 until her retirement in 2005.

Mel was an avid golfer and loved the time she and Gary spent on the golf course together. She loved traveling with Gary to Europe, and Mexico many times, as well as Canada and throughout the United States. Reading novels was her favorite hobby, finishing two to three per week.

Mel is survived by not only Gary and his son Kevin, wife Tracy and daughter Samantha, but also by her daughter Liza, whose daughter is Aja Coleman, nee Devaney, and Aja's husband Vernon Coleman and their three children Ava Thomas Fox, Nia Coleman, and Vernon Coleman the third; as well as Mel's son Clint, his wife Meagan, nee Rozner, and soon to arrive their daughter Barbara Melodie. Clint also has a son Daniel (Danny). Mel is also survived not only by her sister Candy, but Candy's husband Howard (Howie) and son Shawn.
