

Merle Wilson Jr. passed away the morning of March 24, 2012. He was born September 2, 1925 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Navy aboard the USS Quincy. He participated in the “D” day invasion and was along side the USS Missouri for Japan’s surrender in the Pacific. Merle was preceded in death by his loving wife Louise, who left us prematurely March 17, 2001. He was also preceded in death by his parents Merle and Goldie Wilson of Lewistown, PA, siblings; Helen Wilson, Lewistown, PA, Nancy Scott, Mexico, PA, and Melvin Wilson, Lewistown, PA. He is survived by his two sons; Roger (Sharon) Wilson of Glendale, Arizona, and Merle Jay (Geraldine) Wilson III of Winchester, Kentucky. Grandchildren include; Timothy (Kimberly) Wilson, Kevin Jenkins, Jeff (Evelin) Jenkins, and Michelle (Matt) Bealert. Great grandchildren include Angelica, Georgia, and Andrew Wilson, Megan Bealert, and David Jenkins. Also leaves behind his sister Betty Hockenberry of Shiremanstown, PA. Merle had a full life working for the civil service and spent 3 years in Okinawa, Japan, before transferring to Frankfort, Germany for two additional years. Merle & Louise enjoyed their time over seas and travelled extensively throughout the Far East and Europe. They retired for a short period in Kentucky before joining to help in their son’s tax practice in Phoenix in 1987.
