Michael “Mike” Raymond Dommin of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on June 17, 2026, at the age of 72 after a courageous nine-month battle with cancer. He was born on December 12, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1963, his family relocated to Phoenix, where he attended Saint Theresa’s Catholic School and later Brophy College Preparatory, graduating in 1971. These formative years helped shape the resilient, determined, and strong-willed man he remained throughout his life.
Mike lived life on his own terms and was known for his independent spirit, charismatic personality, and devilish good looks—often drawing comparisons to Robert De Niro. Though his journey was not always straightforward, he left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him. His goofy personality and remarkable ability to transform into a wonderful "Boompa" created memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
Throughout his career in the insurance industry, Mike dedicated more than two decades to Burlington Insurance Company, where he proudly worked as a property and casualty insurance underwriter for 21 years. He approached his profession with diligence, expertise, and commitment. Outside of work, he found great joy on the golf course, where he cherished both the game and the friendships it brought him. He was an avid golfer at Paradise Valley Golf Course, where he won numerous championships and celebrated several hole-in-one accomplishments. He was also a loyal Cleveland sports fan, faithfully supporting the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns, and the Cleveland Indians.
Mike is survived by his devoted family which includes his father, Raymond Dommin; his daughter, Stephanie Henshaw, and her significant other, Joel White; his son, Matthew Dommin and his wife Carly; his five beloved grandchildren, Kellen, Avery, Kyleigh, Harrison and Rheya; his brother, Allan Dommin; his sister, Karen Ruggles; and seven supportive nieces and nephews: Kari, Kirsten, Jeremy, Aaron, Carrie, Corey, and Cara. He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Dommin, and his baby sister, Ann Dommin.
The family is deeply grateful for the kindness, care, and compassion shown to Mike throughout his illness. While they mourn his loss, they find comfort in knowing that his suffering has ended and that he is at peace. He will be remembered with love, gratitude, and fond reflection on the many memories shared with family and friends.
Services will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Phoenix Memorial Park, followed by a luncheon and celebration of Mike’s life. Family and friends are invited to gather in honor of a man who now enjoys his eternal heavenly tee time.
