Nicknames: “Mikey, Fat Mike (FM), Uncle Mike, Pa Mikey, Pikey”
Mike was born on July 26, 1950 in Fort Wayne Indiana; the fourth child of Jack and Ruth Younghans. When he was a toddler, his family moved to Tempe, Arizona, where he grew up. He lived the remainder of his life in the Phoenix Metro area.
Education & Career: Mike earned his GED and joined the US Army at age 17. He spent time in Germany and Korea, then was deployed to Vietnam, where he was a helicopter gunman until he was wounded after being shot down. Mike is a purple heart recipient and received an Honorable discharge from the Army. As a civilian, Mike worked as a machinist in the Aerospace industry for most of his career.
Some of the things Mike enjoyed include racing, working on cars, playing his guitar and singing, sharing music with others, spending time with his family, coaching soccer, attending sports events, hunting, camping, partying, joke and storytelling, making people laugh, collecting hats & pins, helping others, and in his latter years, playing with his great grandkids, handing out snacks, watching his shows (NCIS, Sports, Racing, Ridiculousness), and smoking his wacky tobaccy.
Mike passed of natural causes on Monday July, 24, 2023 at the age of 72
Mike is preceded in death by Jack & Ruth Younghans ( his parents), Bill & David Younghans (his brothers), Bubby Younghans (his nephew).
Mike is survived by his son Andrew Scott Younghans, daughter Janice Ribordy, “favorite son-in-law” Brycen Ribordy; his grandchildren Tommy, Harmony, Bryan, Robert, Bree, Angel, Janie, Audrey, Dixie, Aiden & Timmy; his great-grandchildren: Evie, Blake, Kinslee & Everett; his sister and brother-in-law: Annie & Frank Gray; his brother: Steve Younghans; and too many beloved nieces and nephews to name.

Celebration of life ceremony to be held on 8/31/23 at 11:30am at CCV North Phoenix 15025 N. 19th Ave Phoenix, AZ 85023. After the ceremony a precession will go to the National Cemetery (2pm) 23029 North Cave Creek Road. Phoenix, AZ 85024 where he will receive military honors and his ashes will be placed in his final resting spot.
