Myrle Lillian Kendall (Saban), 80, of Glendale Arizona was called home to her Lord and savior on June 27, 2019. Myrle was born the youngest of three children to Mike and Margie Saban in Tucson, AZ. Her early memories are of growing up in Miami/Globe where much of her Serbian family settled. Later, her family relocated to the metro Phoenix area where she remained throughout her life. The daughter of a mechanic and a housewife, Myrle had a happy childhood, and she frequently shared memories of her youth. She had a lifelong love of sports and animals, which were often the subjects of her fondest memories.
Myrle attended Phoenix Union High School where she was active in clubs including student council and sports. There, she met her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, John “Lloyd” Kendall, Jr., who she married in 1960. Together, they raised three children (Shelly, Brent and Janell) along with a menagerie of much loved family pets. Myrle also enjoyed a 38-year career as a dental assistant/office manager for Gary Johnson, DDS.
Myrle lived a life of gratitude. She appreciated everything and everyone in her life. She never wished for more than what she had been given. The love of her family was all she needed to sustain her. She was the matriarch of a very large, loving extended family and she was the glue that held them together. She cherished family gatherings and holidays, and she took enormous pride in her big, loving tribe. Myrle loved being an aunt and a grandmother almost as much as she treasured her role as a mother.
No one enjoyed a good prank more than Myrle. She was spirited, witty and she loved a good joke, most especially if she was the butt of it. She was a joyful spirit and she loved to laugh. She lived a blessed life.
Myrle is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Mike and Margie Saban (Edwards) and her siblings, Peggy Hopper and John Saban. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, John “Lloyd” Kendall, Jr.,her three children: Shelly Shaffer (Tom), Brent Kendall (Kendall) and Janell Haverly (David) and nine grandchildren: Brady, Nicole, Courtney, Chandler, Jessica, Grant, Rachel, Tatum and Jake, and her loyal, beloved dog, Katy, who never left her side.
A celebration of Myrle’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2019 at 4:00PM at Greenwood/Memory Lawn Mortuary & Cemetery at 719 North 27th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ, 85009. Immediately following the service, we invite and encourage everyone to attend a gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of Myrle Kendall at Vistas Recreation Center at Westbrook Village, 18825 N Country Club Parkway, Peoria, AZ 85382 (light food and refreshments will be provided).
