The family moved to San Diego, California where Myrtle graduated from high school. After school she joined the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. There she met and married the love of her life Navy serviceman Thomas Walker. Later the family moved to Houston, Texas. Thomas continued his service in the Navy while Myrtle took care of the family. The family also spent some time in Puerto Rico.
She loved sewing clothes for her children, crocheting and quilting. She enjoyed spending time with her cats and taking care of Eddie the donkey.
Myrtle leaves behind daughters Terri Lynn Gay, Katherine Walker; sons Thomas Walker Jr., Carl Walker (Sherry) and Timothy Walker (Vonna). She is preceded in death by her daughter Leta Susan Walker.
Myrtle will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at a future day.
