Myrtle Percilla Peterson

October 15, 1931September 26, 2020

Myrtle (Lawrence) Peterson, 88, of Phoenix AZ, passed away peacefully at Hospice of the Valley on September 26, 2020. She was married to Roger Wendell Peterson from Osakis, Minnesota who predeceased her.

Myrtle leaves behind her daughters, Joan Early and Mary Morris, and son Ray Peterson. She also leaves behind her 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Myrtle is also survived by her brothers Pete and Roy Lawrence. She was preceeded in death by her brothers Clyde, James, Fred, and William Lawrence; and sisters Annie Mae DeVere, Pearly Bell Lewis and Elenora Lee Everett.

Myrtle delighted in sharing tales of growing up on her family's large dairy farm in central Phoenix, with her tireless parents and rambunctious brothers and sisters. Staying true to her roots, she always had an orchard, garden, and chickens on her property. When her husband passed in 2011, they had celebrated over 60 years of marriage together. As a wife and mother, Myrtle loved camping and fishing all over AZ and spending summers at Big Lake, year after year.

Myrtle had a knack for making family, friends, and strangers alike, feel at ease in her presence. Her 3 children all eventually settled near by, so they could visit often, and her grandchildren would argue over who was her favorite when they were young. She made everyone feel special and loved.

Myrtle was an avid seamstress and made many cherished keepsakes for her family and friends over the years. She was quick to laugh and joke, and kept her enjoyment and enthusiasm for life to the very end.

The services will be held October 17, 10 AM, at Greenwood Serenity Chapel 719 N. 27th Ave. Phoenix, AZ. 85009

I only came to know Myrtle in the last decade or so of her life, but she always seemed like a “forever friend”. She was a bright light with her quiet smile and mischievous manner. I am only one of many whose lives Myrtle brightened and enriched .
