
Norman Allen Hemphill, 92, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2024, in Sun City, Arizona. Born on May 23, 1931, in Tempe, Arizona, Norman was a respected and well-known figure in the local community, particularly recognized for his significant contributions to the Phoenix Produce Market where he was a mainstay from 1952 until his retirement in 1993.
Norman, a proud owner of the Saguaro Produce Company for over four decades, was also an avid aviator, often seen soaring the skies in his own aircraft. His love for the outdoors was evident through his devotion to hunting, fishing, and exploring the vast backcountry. His expertise in firearms was shared through his role as an NRA instructor, and his membership with the Arizona Sports Masters reflected his commitment to sportsmanship and outdoor activities.
A product of North High School, Norman's life was marked by his entrepreneurial spirit and his zest for life's adventures. He leaves behind a legacy of passion.
Norman is survived by his loving wife, Patsy Hemphill; his son, Norman Hemphill Jr; eight grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. His life was also blessed by the presence of his late daughter, Lori Hemphill Bennett; his late son, Richard Hemphill; and his late wife, Betty Hemphill, whom all preceded him in death.
