Patricia Jean Lindsay Blake (Patsy and later Pat) was born November 29, 1927 in Phoenix Arizona. She was the last of six children born to Irish immigrants, James and Elizabeth Lindsay. Phoenix was a very small town at that time. Patsy grew up in the house where she was born. She attended Osborn Elementary School, North High School, and Phoenix College, where she received an associate degree in home economics.
World War II was being fought when Pat was in high school and early college. She was active in the USO during that time and served her community by selling war bonds and participating in USO dances.
After graduating from Phoenix College, Pat worked as a secretary at the Valley National Bank and later at the post office. During that time, she met and married George Blake and as many women of that time did, settled down to domestic life. Pat and George had three children.
Pat enjoyed cooking, reading, and collecting. She was an armchair traveler and loved learning about other parts of the world, their religions, and cultures. Animals and babies were drawn to her and she loved them, often proclaiming that babies were “the sweetest things in all the world”.
In 2006 George passed away after 51 years of marriage. Pat is survived by her three children, Carol Sieg (husband Tom), John Blake (wife Sue), and Margaret Blake, and one grandchild, Patrick Sieg.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
