

Patsy Jo Carr went to be with her Lord on August 29, 2018 at the age of 88. She was born in Harriman TN in 1929 and after graduating from college moved to Monterrey, Mexico where she taught in a Bible institute. She earned a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1955 and moved to Arizona in 1962. She was a scholar and an accomplished musician. She taught piano for more than 40 years and taught Spanish at Grand Canyon University. She translated many John W. Peterson cantatas from English to Spanish and many pieces of correspondence from Spanish to English. Her great joy was faithfully serving the Lord in ministry within Hispanic Southern Baptist churches in Texas and Arizona. Patsy Jo was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years Paul. She is survived by her sons Paul (Shelly), Philip (Delinda) and Andrew (Lynn), daughters Anna Faith (Ken) Smith and Hope (Allen) Briscoe, 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, her brother, Charles (Pat) Raper, her sister-in-law, Beuton (Rev. William, dec) Raper and many nieces and nephews. Patsy Jo leaves a tremendous example for her family, loved ones, and all who knew her of a life well-lived. A celebration of her life will be held at First Southern Baptist Church, 3100 W. Camelback Rd, Phoenix AZ 85017 on Friday, September 7, at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Operation Mexico Missions (a ministry that supports indigenous Christian ministry in Mexico), PO Box 1584 Phoenix AZ 85001.
