Paul was born April 19, 1929 at Pineville, Arkansas. He died May 20, 2012 at Phoenix, AZ. He had one sister. They lived on a farm so they raised their food. They had chickens for eggs and for fried chicken when the preacher came for dinner or sometimes fried chicken with biscuits and gravy for breakfast. They raised hogs for food and sold them for extra money. Paul always got the runt of the litter to raise because he seemed to have the knack to raise the best. Transportation in his earlier life was a wagon and a team of horses.
There were 11 children on his mother's side of the family and 15 on his dad's, so he had aunts and uncles and cousins by the dozen. Recreation was visiting with families and staying overnight with aunts and uncles and grandparents as they all lived in the same area. The boys spent most days playing along the creek catching crawdads and roasting them for snacks, or playing marbles in the sand. He had a dog named Nero who went with him.
He met a red haired girl in 9th grade in high school named Mary Louise Benbrook. He got her attention as she walked down the aisle and he tripped her as she passed by. They dated through high school and married just before she graduated. Paul had graduated a year earlier and moved 50 miles away because his father sold the farm and started a contracting company. Absence makes the heart grow fonder so they say. Paul had graduated in 3 years so he could join the service. Paul worked with his dad a few years before he went into the service, so he learned another trade. He took auto mechanics in high school and worked part time driving a grocery delivery truck after he got his drivers license.
Paul and Mary spent 65 years together.
