Rafael Zavala Cabello, aged 73, passed away in his sleep in the early morning hours of March 16, 2026, at his home surrounded by family. Born on October 22, 1952, in Guanajuato, Mexico, Rafael was a man of enduring perseverance and hope despite life's challenges.
Rafael, or "Jordan" by those who were close to him, was the cherished husband of Maria Zavala, of 52 years, and a father to five children, grandfather to nine grandchildren, great grandfather to three great grandchildren and older brother to seven siblings. Known by many for his no-nonsense and straightforward character, there were also a great many who also knew the caring and playful side of him. From his love of animals to pranking his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Rafael was a more complex individual than most people knew. Rafael's stories, advice and quick wit will be remembered and cherished by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A family gathering to celebrate Rafael's life will be held on April 10, 2026 at El Zafiro Banquet Hall. In honor of Rafael's memory, the family asks that you share any fond stories that you may have of him.
