Raymond Deo Hendricks was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved God, reading God’s Word, and sharing God’s good news of salvation through faith in Jesus. He
liked camping, fishing, playing softball and racquetball, and driving the skid loader. Deo was born at home in Troy, Iowa on March 18th, 1926 to Gerald and Virginia Hendricks. He went to heaven almost ninety-five years later from his home in Phoenix, Arizona, with his family around him, on January 21, 2021. Deo graduated from Phoenix Union High School, Arizona Bible Institute, and Southwestern Bible College. Throughout his time of Biblical education and Military service, he also worked for and retired from the
Southern Pacific Railroad. Deo served his country honorably in the Merchant Marines during World War II and in the Army during the Korean War. It was while he was in Korea that he received a Gospel of John from his sister and trusted Jesus as his Savior, and his life was changed forever. Deo pastored various congregations for over fifty years, including churches in South Phoenix, Apache Junction, Sierra Vista, and then back in Phoenix. Many continue to call him Pastor. Deo was preceded in death by his wife of almost sixty-three years, Mary, his sister Mabel Phillips, and one grandchild, Derek Enlow. He was blessed to have eight children, thirty grandchildren, and thirty-two great-grandchildren…and counting. He is dearly loved. A Memorial Service will be held for Deo at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 30th at Palmcroft Church, 15825 N 35th Ave, Phoenix, Arizona. Pastors Dan Gavaza and Kevin Redding will officiate. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to Palmcroft Church to support missions.
