Richard, who many of you know as Dick, was born in Elmira, New York on March 23, 1940 to Edgar and Helen Dodge. Dick was raised in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania with his two brothers, Gary Dodge and Kurt Dodge, as well as his sister Marlene Kennedy. He graduated from Wellsboro High School and continued his education at Tri State College in Angola, Indiana receiving his Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1962. A year after graduation on June 8, 1963 Dick married the love of his life Sharon Abrams. Shortly after the wedding Dick and Sharon became parents to Rick Dodge followed by Debbie Comber, Timothy Dodge, and Sandra Mikkelsen. In 1979 they made the move West to Phoenix, Arizona. Dick worked hard to provide for his whole family, and his family continued to grow with the addition of his 6 beautiful grandkids, Thomas Comber, Nicole Comber, Megan Fraser, Jordan Dodge, Hunter McKnight, and Rylee Peck. After putting in 24 years with Shortridge Instruments Dick and Sharon moved to San Diego, California in 2007. Over the 10 years that they lived in California many wonderful memories were made. In late 2016 Dick and Sharon made their way back to Arizona and settled close to family in Sun City. He cherished this time with family in Arizona up until he passed in 2020.
Dick is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sharon Dodge, brothers Gary (Lisa) Dodge, Kurt (Kay) Dodge, and Marlene (Terry) Kennedy, children Rick (Missy) Dodge, Deborah (Thomas) Comber, Timothy Dodge, and Sandra (Christian) Mikkelsen, 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, as well and many loved nieces, nephews, and friends.
