Rita was such a classy, wise, witty, fun, and beautiful woman. The Branhams, Audisios, and Howells raised the cul-de-sac kids together and greatly enjoyed each other's company. I also thoroughly enjoyed being Rita's entertainment on Michael's fishing trips in Colorado. I will miss her dearly. My condolences to Michael, Jason, and Michelle.

Sadly when one has been in education as long as I have, one can't remember all the kids and as a sixth grade teacher one does not interact much with parents. Not like kindergarten! But when I had Jason whom I do remember, I also had the good fortune to know Rita. What a MOM! And did she love her boy. I was sadden to see that she had passed and can only imagine the hole left in the family. Rita was a force of nature- a strong, independent, confident woman who loved her family. I think it is important as we lose loved ones that the family know the profound impact certain people had on others beyond the reach of the family. Rita was that kind of person for me. Jason, I am grateful for having you as a student in sixth grade and grateful for knowing your mom. I write this in hopes that you, Jason, and your sister and your dad remember her profound effect on others so that you carry her spirit with you always as you heal and keep her close in your heart. Thinking of all of you and remembering Rita with great affection!

My husband, Llew, and I met Rita and Michael in 1991 when we moved to Phoenix and Michelle and Jason were still little kids. They were our neighbors and our families became good friends. Rita and I were, over time and after we moved away from Moon Valley, great lunch buddies. She always knew the best places, the "hot in" newest restaurants and introduced me to places I'd never have found otherwise. Our lunches were filled with non-stop fun conversations, laughter, family talk, the latest current household dog news, sharing photos, catching up on vacations, pondering current events - never a dull moment. Rita was curious about everything, and generous to a fault; she never stopped learning new things. I will always treasure memories of our friendship. May she rest in peace; fly free, Rita. Much love to Michael, Michelle, Jason, and everyone who will miss this lovely woman.
