

Robert “Bob” J. Day, Sr., born November 21, 1937, passed away April 17, 2014. Master Chief Day was a proud member of the U.S. Navy for 38 years, enlisting in January, 1955 and retiring in February, 1993. After serving in the fleet reserve, he transferred to the Seabees and rose from Seaman to Master Chief Petty Officer before retiring. After retiring, Bob became a member of the Navy Seabee Veterans of America Island X-5 AZ, where he was the Commander for two years and the Sec/Treasurer for four years. Master Chief Day was also a member of the American Legion Post 29 in Glendale, AZ. Bob was also a retiree of Arizona Public Service Company, starting there in 1957 as a Messenger and retiring as a Safety Consultant in 1994. Bob was also the Treasurer for the APS Retiree’s Assn. for four years. Bob leaves behind his wife, Arnita; three sons, Bob Jr., Steven, and Dennis Scott; stepdaughter, Wendy Gipson; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held for Bob on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary, 719 N. 27th Ave. Phoenix, AZ. 85009, at 11:00 a.m., with service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Donations may be made in memory of Bob to the Wounded Warriors Project.
