Robert Joseph Diller, age 89, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away February 4, 2014. Bob was born October 29, 1924 at home (3rd St. and Glendale Ave) to parents Lewis and Bertha Diller. He lived his entire life in Arizona.
He graduated from Madison #1 and Phoenix Union High School. Bob was drafted into the Army at age 18 and returned home at the end of World War II four days before his 21st birthday. He took part in the invasion of D-Day landing on Utah Beach, and the Battle of the Bulge which he reveived three purple hearts and two bronze stars.
Bob and his brother James (deceased) were involved in farming in the valley and Roll, Arizona. He is survived by his wife Isabelle of 63 years, son Craig, daughter Anita (Mike) McCoy, grandchildren Tyler and Sarah, nieces Jacqueline (Stephen) Miller and Mary Chartos. We want to thank Hospice of the Valley and Ryan House for their faithful work in making Bob's last days comfortable.
In lieu of flowers donations my be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014. Services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014, at 10:00 A.M. at A.L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W Bethany Home Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85013. Interment to follow at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery.
