

Robert Lee Fletcher, was born in Baird, Texas on January 28, 1946, to Robert William Fletcher and Ida Bell Clevenger Fletcher. Robert passed away in Phoenix, Arizona on Monday, October 27, 2025. He was 79 years old.
Bob moved to Arizona in 1951. He attended Murphy Elementary School and Carl Hayden High School. He met the love of his life, Nancy Lauretta Smith in 1962, and they married on May 21, 1966.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy, brother, Wendell who married Nancy’s sister Barbara, daughter Kimberlee Pratt (Mark), son Timothy (Noel), grandchildren Reese Pratt (Kati), Cole Pratt (Kaylee), Hannah Lauretta (Zachary Firman), Olivia Noel, and four great-grandsons Oliver and Beckett Pratt and Timothy and Theodore Firman.
Robert served on the Phoenix Police Department from 1967 to 1997. Robert joined the Phoenix Police Department on July 10, 1967. During his career, he worked in Patrol, Walking Beat, the Selective Enforcement Unit, Warrant Detail, Motors, Property Crimes, and in Community Relations in the P.A.Y.S. and P.A.L. programs; he also started a NYPUM Program (National Youth Project Using Mini-Bikes) working with at-risk youth. Upon being promoted to Sergeant, Robert worked in Patrol at the Northern Command Station (Union Hills Precinct) and South Mountain Precinct, as a desk sergeant and administrative sergeant at PPD Main Station downtown supervising callback, before transferring to the Organized Crime Bureau, where he worked as an administrative and investigative sergeant. Robert retired on July 30,1997 after 30 years of dedicated service to his community. Bob’s community service outside law enforcement included being a baseball coach and Scout Master.
Robert’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, muzzleloading, flying planes, racing stock cars with his brother, and restoring classic cars. He also loved to travel, spend time with his family, and play guitar and banjo.
Bob was a wonderful husband, amazing dad, awesome grandpa, fantastic papa, beloved brother, and faithful friend. He never turned down an opportunity to tell a funny story, teach important life lessons, compete in anything, share an adventure or make a memory with his wife, kids, grandkids, great-grandsons, family or friends.
A service for Bob will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 with visitation starting at 10:00 AM and service beginning at 11:00 AM at Greenwood Memory Lawn, 719 North 27th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85009.
A brief graveside service and reception will follow at this same location. To keep the mood upbeat, the family requests informal colorful attire.
