Roberta Louise Hendrix-Little, of Tonto Basin, AZ died Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at the Hospice of the Valley in Tempe, Arizona. She was born January 29, 1935, in Douglas, Arizona, the daughter of William Morenci Evans and Alma Louise Evans.
Roberta graduated from Phoenix Union High School, Phoenix, Arizona with the class of 1953. She completed her nursing degree in 1956 from Memorial Hospital. She served most of her career as a RN for 45 years with Civil Service. Her love for Children kept her in the OB/GYN field. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, cooking, travel and spending time with her friends and family.
She is survived by three of her four children, Annette of Terrell, Texas, Kim of Phoenix, Arizona and Christopher of Tonto Basin, AZ; eight of her nine grandchildren, Clifford Clay, Jose Ruiz II, Nick Larsen, Maria Clay¸ Justin Larsen, Brandon Larsen, Michael Santa Cruz, and Jacob Santa Cruz, and two Great Grand Children Jade Clay and Selena Ruiz. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Brother William Dwayne Evans, husband Harland Little, her eldest son Donald Andrew Clay and her oldest grandson Donald “Donnie” Andrew Clay II.
We’re grateful that she was able to spend the last years of her life in Punkin Center where she and her family always felt at home. We often had family get-togethers for a solitary retreat from the city rat race. We enjoyed laughing, playing games, riding the quads and boating at the lake. We always had plenty to eat as everyone was given two to three lists before they even arrived. It took four refrigerator/freezers to get us through the weekend retreat. We will miss her but know she is far from pain and despair. God’s Speed Bobbie.
