Roberto De La Rosa, age 79, of Phoenix, Arizona was called home in the early hours of July 18, 2024. After a prolonged fight with cancer, Roberto’s unwavering faith in God – in that knowing his life was in God's hands, and whatever God had before Him, he would walk faithfully with Jesus one day. It’s with joy we can say Roberto successfully reached his destination!
Roberto was born on September 19, 1944, in Corpus Christi, Texas to parents Librado and Fransica De La Rosa. Roberto was the fourth of six children, Dolores, Fernando, Evangelina, Roberto, Luz and Juan, and spent various times of his childhood driving, farming, fishing, schooling, and being a loving member of his family until joining the Marines in 1961. As a Marine, Roberto would wind up stationed in Yuma, Arizona, where he met Marie Condos whom he married in 1965. The newlywed couple would both move to Corpus Christi, Texas the same year, before moving to Phoenix, Arizona in 1969. It is in Phoenix that the couple would welcome their son Richard in 1974.
In Phoenix, Roberto worked for the City of Phoenix for over 30 years from which he retired in 2000. However, Roberto’s true passion was his love for The Lord. This love was a reflection for the love Roberto felt from The Lord since his own path was turned around after repentance of his then life and acceptance of Jesus as his Lord and Savior in 1979. From that point on, Roberto would often share his own testimony of the grace, mercy and goodness of God with whomever he spoke to. Friends, family, doctors, nurses, rich, poor, and everyone in‐between, if Roberto had a listener, Roberto would be sharing!
Roberto is survived by his wife Marie De La Rosa, son Richard De La Rosa, sister Evangelina De La Rosa, sister Luz Perez, sister in‐law Irene Vargas, brother in‐law Frank Solomon, twelve nieces, twelve nephews, and an ever‐expanding list of both great nieces and nephews and great‐great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Roberto’s life will be held Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 10 a.m. at North Bible Church, 15678 N. Greenway Hayden Loop #101, Scottsdale, AZ 85260.
