Rodney Nordine Reinertson

Rodney Nordine Reinertson, 87, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Monday, November 14, 2022, at Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born December 9, 1934, to Norman and Hilda Reinertson in Union Township, Iowa.

Rodney grew up in Waterloo, Iowa and graduated from East High School. He married Marjorie Rinker on November 1, 1953, and they had three children, Rodney Jr, Darcey, and Randy. They divorced after 11 years of marriage. Rodney then met and married Mavis Ubben on May 29, 1965 and had three children, Ronald, Ryan and Rhonda. Rodney adopted Mavis’s children from a previous marriage, Patricia and Victoria. They were married for over 57 years until his death.

Rodney and Mavis moved from Iowa to Arizona in 1969 where he worked his way up to Mechanical Superintendent at Maricopa Medical Center. He retired from the Medical Center after more than 26 years of service and became the Director of Facilities at the Arizona State hospital. He made many lifelong friends during his time working for the State of Arizona.

Rodney is survived by his wife Mavis Reinertson; his brother Leslie Reinertson; his children Rod (Elaine) Reinertson, Darcey (Jim) Widmann, Randy (Foon) Reinertson, Patricia (Kregg) Gower, Victoria (Robert) Carter, Ronald (Roberta) Reinertson, Ryan (Tammy) Reinertson, Rhonda Zvara; his grandchildren Sara, Heather, Derek, Lea, Crystal, JD, Steven, Scottie, Stephanie, Shannon, Sean, Allen, Guy, Joshua, Adam, Erika, Megan, Liam, Aidan, Rodney James (RJ); and countless great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his son-in-law Richard Zvara; his siblings Richard, Anna Mae, and Daryl; and his parents Norman and Hilda Reinertson.

The family would like to thank caregiver Kristy Keller for her care and dedication to Rodney over the past year.

A funeral service for Rodney will be held Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary, 200 West Beardsley Road, Phoenix, AZ 85027.
