It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Roger Bruce Vallance, age 79, of Phoenix, Arizona, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, who passed away on January 18, 2026. He was born on October 25, 1946, in Tampa, Florida, the only child of Thomas and Esther Vallance.
Roger spent his childhood moving throughout the United States and abroad as both of his parents served in the United States Air Force. He graduated from H. H. Arnold High School in Wiesbaden, Germany, in 1964. Following high school, he attended the University of Maryland’s Munich campus for one year before returning to the United States. Later in life, he continued his education and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Phoenix.
In 1972, Roger met his future wife, Constance Lynn Vallance (née Isbell), in Champaign, Illinois. They were married on June 30, 1973, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned more than five decades.
Roger enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of twenty and completed his military career with the 161st Air Refueling Wing of the Arizona Air National Guard in Phoenix, where he served for over twenty-five years; retiring with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Following his military retirement, he worked in accounting and payroll for two national corporations before fully retiring in 2011.
Roger lived life with curiosity, enthusiasm, and a genuine love of connection. A seasoned world traveler and devoted history buff, he took great pleasure in learning about the places he visited and the stories behind them. He was an avid reader of mystery and crime novels and a lifelong baseball fan, proudly holding season tickets during the inaugural season of the Arizona Diamondbacks. He was always eager to strike up a conversation, meet new people, and share stories. His warmth, friendliness, and engaging nature made a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Roger is survived by his wife, Constance; his daughter Michelle Vallance Petry and her husband, Devin; his daughter Megan Vallance; his son Bryan Vallance and his wife, Julie; and his grandchildren, Reid Petry, Connor Petry, Nicholas Padilla, Kiani Padilla, Eliana Padilla, and Gavan Vallance.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Roger's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
