Rosalind “Rose” Fay Lyman was born on April 2, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, to her loving mother, Ernestine Green. She was one of seven children, growing up surrounded by family and the bonds that would remain with her throughout her life.
Rosalind faced a challenging upbringing, but her strength and determination carried her forward. Earlier in her life, she made the decision to move to Arizona to begin a new chapter, seeking better opportunities and a brighter future for her children. She relocated to be near her uncle, finding both support and a fresh start as she worked to build a good life for her family.
Rosalind was the devoted mother of five children. Her first child was stillborn, a loss she carried with her always. She was later blessed with her children Angel, Crystal, Kevin, and Stephanie, who passed away in 2019.
Rose found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved bowling and spending time listening to Motown music, especially favorites like Michael Jackson and The Temptations. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, often passing the time with a quiet focus. Her favorite singer was Whitney Houston, and her favorite song, “I Will Always Love You,” was one she cherished deeply.
Rose was known for keeping a clean and orderly home. She liked things just right and took pride in making everything feel perfect, even down to the smallest details. At the same time, she had a playful spirit and a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to joke and pull little pranks, often just to see people’s reactions and share a laugh. Those who knew her were naturally drawn to her warmth and personality, and she was truly loved by many.
Above all, Rose was nurturing, selfless, and deeply devoted to her family. She was the kind of person who would do everything for others, never wanting anyone to go without. She worked tirelessly to raise her children, giving them everything she had. Her son Kevin shared that she saved their lives, and that they would not be where they are today without her strength, sacrifices, and unwavering love. Rose would give her last dollar to help someone in need, a reflection of both her generous heart and the hardships she overcame in her own life. Even in her final days, she continued to give of herself to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always putting them before her own needs.
Rose leaves behind her loving children: Angel and son-in-law Bennie, Crystal and son-in-law Carl, Kevin and Conny. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Raven, Javonte, Jaden, Felix, Malakai, , Cameron, Darnelle, Seanna, Elijah, Louie, Kyrie, Rosalinda, Kavon, Rosabella, Ares and Kbreanna; and her beloved great-grandchildren: Jahimere, Jojo, Marisha, Armani, Novali, and Mae’lani, as well as one great-grandchild on the way.
A private farewell pending.
