Rose is preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Hansford Sr., her parents, Sam Henry Belfield and Annie Mae Jacobs; sister, Bernice Brown; brothers, Robert Jacobs, Arthur "Jick" Jacobs, David Jacobs, Junior Jacobs and Wade Jacobs. She transitioned from this life April 16th, 2019 peacefully in her sleep.
Rose was a trained data entry professional; she typed well over 100 words per minute! She thus, worked for ADP and other data entry companies for over 20 plus years until she worked as an entrepreneur in a religious publishing business. This kept her traveling around the country meeting people; she loved to travel!
Rose embraced the Islamic faith in 1985 and loved living her life accordingly many years until her untimely passing.
Rose had a passion for helping people. She, lovingly, always put others before herself.
Rose loved to take care of her family. She raised three sons almost singlehandedly! Then through her third marriage of 30 years, she raised two more stepsons and a stepdaughter.
Rose loved fishing like her mother! She looked for any opportunity wherever she lived to fish!
Rose loved to sew and create. She made, virtually all of the clothing she wore!
Rose authored three books which were designed to help uplift black women and girls: “For the Black Woman: How to Elevate a Precious Jewel,” “For The Black Woman-A How to Guide For Developing and Elevating The Growing and Intelligent Sister,” and “For The Black Woman-A How to Guide For Developing and Elevating The Growing and Intelligent Sister-Updated edition”
Rose was also passionate about cooking and baking. She always received rave reviews about her cooking wherever she went or whoever she cooked for. Having perfected many recipes, she was yet to publish a cookbook.
Her memory will be forever cherished by her surviving family: sons, Rodney Hansford and wife Robyn of California; Charles Hansford and wife Denise of California; Nicholas Hansford Hakim and wife Sharie of Georgia; stepdaughter, Mia Brice and husband Robert of Georgia; stepsons, Khalfani Mackey and Marcus Mackey of Georgia; grandchildren, Kaycee, Desire, De’Andra, Rodney Jr., Melissa, Jabari and Khairy; sister, Joyce McGill and husband Michael of California; brothers, Larry Jacobs and Carl Jacobs of North Carolina; niece, Dawn Icart of California; nephews, Curtiss Brown Jr. and longtime girlfriend, Gina Watts of New Jersey, Kirk Jr. Walker of North Carolina; aunts, Josephine Jacobs of New Jersey, Beatrice Holman of Delaware, Eva Jane Jacobs of North Carolina, Eveline Jacobs of North Carolina; cousins, Diane Copper, Louis Jacobs, Laura Jacobs, Paul Jacobs, Napoleon Jacobs, Amy Jacobs – All of New Jersey; close friends, Rebecca Rahman, Vincent Ruff; And a large host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to list.
