With immense gratitude for his life of service, the Madrid family announces his passing on August 10, 2026. Ruben was born August 22, 1948, in Phoenix, AZ to Pablo and Aurelia Madrid and is survived by his brother Roy, and sisters Clara and Sylvia.
Ruben was a proud graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Phoenix. Ruben’s Catholic faith and love of our Lord were very important to him and was evidenced in his many acts of kindness for others.
Shortly after, he served as an EMT with Associated Ambulance which lead him to the Town of Wickenburg. This became his hometown and he gladly served the town as a police officer for 25 years, retiring as a sergeant in 2006. He continued his calling for public service as SRO at Wickenburg HS from 2006-2020. After his retirement he would stay in touch on Facebook with family, former students, friends, and work associates.
Ruben also served Wickenburg through the “Cops Who Care Program” for many years as past president, treasurer and board member.
He served two terms as a Councilman and helped guide the town through a period of growth and development which is evidenced in its current growth.
In 2016, Ruben received a donor kidney from a young man known to his family. This organ donation enabled him to continue his life of love and service to others for almost ten years.
